Patricia S. Sinay
Patricia is the founder of Community Investment
Strategies, a consulting firm connecting nonprofits
and foundation’s passion to action. Prior to
consulting, Patricia worked for The San Diego
Foundation for nearly six years where as the
Associate Vice President for the Community
Partnerships Department, she managed The
Foundation’s Civil Society Program which fostered
community problem solving that built on the diverse
perspective and talents of San Diegans and she also
managed The Foundation’s Organizational Success
Program which supported nonprofit organizations in
strengthening their ability to achieve their
missions. Patricia was a German Marshall Fund
Transatlantic Fellow in Slovakia, where she worked
with three community foundations. More recently,
Patricia was invited by the Vancouver Foundation to
be a peer reviewer of the foundation’s grant making
programs. In 2003, Patricia was named to San
Diego’s “2003 40 Under Forty” an honor roll of young
community leaders sponsored by San Diego
Metropolitan Magazine.
Prior to working with The San Diego Foundation,
Patricia was a Multi-Cultural Fellow with The San
Francisco Foundation and a Field Services Manager in
San Mateo with the American Cancer Society where she
developed programs for the Latino community. Before
focusing on local community building, Patricia
worked with various international development
organizations in Washington D.C. She is an
immigrant from Latin America and she has an M.A. in
International Affairs from American University and a
B.A. in Political Science from UCLA.
